There was a burst of incomprehensible Spanish, and then various girl voices yelling, "Wooooooooooooo!"

"Hang on, moving into the hallway..."

After a minute, she was back on saying, "So yes, maybe? I'm having fun, though. All these foreign exchange students know how to party."

"Just don't spend too much time with the soccer hooligans," Roy teased.

"Of course not," Dinah said, mostly virtuously. "I have to spend time with the fencing hooligans and the judo hooligans too." She grinned and leaned against the wall. "How are things in Crazytown?"

"Two words," Roy said. "Zombie. Piranhas."

Two more words would be 'target' and 'practice.' Well, moving target practice, but that was three words.

"No way," Dinah protested. "And I missed this? Damnit. That sounds way more fun than the bitey goldfish were."

"That the alligators were spitting," Dinah clarified. "Also, note for future reference. Fandom sewers? Just as nasty as everywhere else."

Okay, alligators spitting bitey goldfish was pretty awesome, he had to admit. "Sorry I missed that one," he said. "Not sorry I missed the sewers, though." Sewer jobs were never fun.

"It was bleeeeeah," Dinah said, making gagging noises. "The harpies were the worst, though." She sighed. "And now I'm somewhere where the weirdest I get is bank robbers in tutus. Think I'm glad. How's other stuff?"

"You know this stuff picks up before Christmas," Dinah pointed out, sniffing in fake disdain. "They're warming up. It's like the Oscar race! They all bring out their best weird for the lights and cameras around New Year's."

"This is true," Roy agreed. Something about the cold and their little brains, he figured. "Plus it gives you more time to watch soccer."

"This is true. And to be in plays." Dinah grinned. "You'll come visit, right? It's the second week of December. Pleeeease?... assuming I got the part."

"Yay! We have to go out and do something ice creamy when I'm there over Homecoming," Dinah pointed out. She was about to say Parents Weekend is coming up, then remembered Roy's issues with his foster dad.

Yeah, a far more ideal outcome would be his parent not showing up, and Roy couldn't imagine that he'd want to, anyway. "I never say no to ice cream, you know that," he said.

"Cool," Dinah said in satisfaction. "Send me photos of zombie fish?"

"That's gonna be a problem," Roy said, "because I was too busy taking potshots to take photos."

Dinah snickered. "Some day we'll get you trained to take photos during these things. Then I guess you owe me photos of whatever else you get up to."

That was Dinah speak for, You're out and making friends, right? Right?

Yes, Tiny Mom. "I'll see what I can do," he said wryly. "I'm sure it's not as exciting as your adventures in college. In Gotham."

"Oo. I should go see if they take their shirts off."

...this would be why she'd thought of Roy, yes.
